Responsible Fur Farming

Description

Many people are against fur for a very good reason, the welfare of the animal, and as we all know fur farms have a bad reputation for absolute torture. However, that is not 100% true or 100% false. Fur farms provide a way to produce fur for clothes, blankets, etc, without damaging wild populations (trappers will catch wild animals for fur, but this helps keep the population from exploding, if big companies got into this they would severely hurt the species). Many people will also argue that faux, fake, or synthetic fur is more harmful, being produced in wasteful factories and being made from plastics (which take millions of years to decompose and plastic has a seriously harmful effect on wildlife, mainly aquatic and semi-aquatic marine life). While there are a few good points to fur farming, there is still the big question of the animal's treatment. Many people believe all fur farms are cramped and tiny cages, full of waste, the animal injured and miserable, and then they are skinned alive or electrocuted, or even beaten. This is true for some of the world's most disgusting fur farms, mainly those in China (not a hit on china or the Chinese people, just true that many fur farms from that country have horrible treatment and standards). Fur farms like those should NOT be running, and most fur-wearers and lovers are highly against these sorts of places. Responsible fur farms are another story. They give their animal adequate space, clean living areas and healthy animals (which are usually paired for companionship). These animals get to see the sun, and are often not scared of humans, even show friendship to their owners when handled. Responsible fur farms are also rigorously inspected to insure laws are followed and animals are well and healthy. Animals in these facilities are not skinned alive or tortured in any way, they die quickly and the remains are recycled, used in whatever productive ways they can (rabbit meat can be eaten by humans, other animals can be made into feed for pets, etc.) as to be less wasteful. Owners and managers of responsible farms care for their animals, not only for the fact that a healthy animal produces beautiful fur, but for the moral and ethical reasons as well.

I love fur, and yes I prefer it on the animal who made it, it is more beautiful there than anywhere else, but humans have used fur for various reasons for thousands of years. When done responsibly, fur farming (as well as trapping) is no evil thing. If you would like to own fur, but are unsure of where to get it, try names like Saga furs and others that take excellent care of their animals. Avoid buying chinese fur, which may be difficult because around 85% of fur products come from chinese fur farms, which (not all but the majority) are the farms that torture their animals.

I do not take credit for the photography, just the editing and manipulation. Please be an adult, no whining. If you use it, please credit me, I worked hard on this so please respect that!

Personally, I don't mind too much about fur farms and such just as long as the animals are raised humanely and die humanely. But then again I don't like going over the negative stuff about fur farms, PETA, etc. bc it sorta stresses me out. Y'know?
